at a dark night in autumn 2009 i decided to move back from berlin to the circle. back around christmas 2009 the quiet wintermonths took over and re-created the studio in the circle where i was able to sitdown and mixdown the tracks i created over the last 21 months in berlin.

after 4 years of putting out various hit releases via thema, the mother ship, its first sub-label or satellite has come to be. we are proud to announce spacial! it will consist of various remix projects, outtakes and b-sides from the parent and digital labels this new realm will function as a showcase for some of the more esoteric creations from our ever expanding roster of artists. so for our first slab of black magic, we have lad from switzerland which is remixed by none other then mr. quenum for a peak time killah remake. to keep it deep we have monotron, a new comer from holland dropping a sensual builder that lacks no luster to muster you on the floor. on the flip side we gave the whole side to a remix by the man from the hills, mr. ernesto ferrerya remixing beaner of bar25. this monster takes us on some ill trippy ride into his private lil world of bass and organs. we feel this grouping is a nice crop of tracks to start off a new adventure, its all part of the bigger concept of developing a sound—a movement—an idea. remember though, this is only the beginning!

much awaited return to lost trax! scsi-av has been a well respected electro and techno label since it was born in september 2008. almost 12 years later and after a short break scsi is back with a classy detroit techno record which has been sat in the vaults for quite some time waiting patiently to be released. as the second part of the lost trax series. expect deep bass, booming 808 kicks and carl craig-esque sounding strings. the production on both sides of this record is amazing showing the digital generation that analogue kit still sounds supreme. the lost trax series is a project for producers who have inspired the label to record something special and release anonymously as we dont believe its necessary to sell music on the strength of a specific artists reputation.

the amazing situation return with two sides of love – gangster love and sutra love. the gangster side is an amazing clash of a skit from american gangster (heavily inspired by the eddy grant produced >funky like a train< by the equals) with donna summer. the resulting blend is as inspiring and surprising as it is unlikely. but with their usual disregard for boundaries and rules, situation seamlessly melt the two original cuts together into a perfect slice of discoid boogie that absolutely sets fire to the dancefloor. on the flip side, love of a deeper and groovier type oozes from sutra love. its a case of yet more top class, bass led disco action thats firmly focussed on maximum dancefloor reaction. this is without a doubt one of the best situations ever! and with heavy releases on disco deviance and their own imprint already under the belt that really is saying something.

final daniel wang release on rush hour, incl. 6 tracks not on the recent compilation. the balihu bootleg ep is the final release in the best of balihu series on rush hour. this 6 track ep holds two unreleased tracks (!) and four early works and b-sides. this ep starts with sylver belt which was included on the never released and much in demand balihu 002. not feeling it and east side hustle are early b-side balihu tracks that were not featured on the compilation. side b continues with the instrumental version of if it feels good. this deep, electronic track was taken from the vault of danny and has not been released before. shadows & unhouse are again two early danny tracks that were not on the balihu compilation. and with this limited ep we close off this wonderful project with danny. we hope to see him back one day with new music

james braun is one of the new exciting producers out of denmark, with his strong productions he have earned great respect amongst djs like jesse rose and claude vonstroke. this is the second release from the danish producer on tartelet. the original is, like usually, a combination between solid house, great producing skills and james’ urge for experimenting with genre and sounds. with detroit-ish string theme and bass driven groove the original is fun, intriguing yet powerful. on the b-side tartelet are proud to present a remix by claude vonstroke, who wanted to do it after heavy support of brauns earlier material. the remix features many of the original elements but in updated and very danceable version. label-man tomas barfod shows us his darker sides on his remix. barfod takes symphonia late-night with string pad, dirty drums, spacy synths and deep-bass.

we are so proud to welcome the talented producer from chicago, kate simko, known for her great work on spectral. kate send us 2 amazing pieces of music... a-side, >lost in time<, made during a trip in argentina, shows the deep, intense and intimist sides of kate music. dark grooves lead by an amazing atmosfere made of pads, synths and keys... like dop said... they were in love with it, and wanted to remix it badly. on the b-side, the dop remix is a great reinterpretation of the track with a pop feeling, where jaw bring his vocals. another version of the remix, a really and special one will be released in 2010 on eklo. the second track gets in a more housey feeling, but still deep with famous kates rhodes/synthssounds, and a great toms hooks leading the track through her groovy organic and analogue rhythm.

the yore captain returns to his own yore imprint on the labels 21st release. shadow city presents different visions of funky house grooves. the a sides the y theme gets deeply moving with a funky house pulse before stoking the fire with the addition of speaking voices (trippingly intoning the q&a what are we doing this for? and the music), a move which single-handedly jumpstarts the track. after the voices appear, the grooves intensity escalates and plunges deeper, its gyroscopic house swing becoming more dizzying and torrential with each passing bar before coming to an acidy storming end. in its opening moments, shadow city opts for a deeper and more serenading vibe by comparison, but thats traded in for a slinkier attack at the three-minute mark that grows progressively more ferocious as the track makes its drastic upwards ascent. a trippin dangerous murder weapon to say the least. watch your heads! the b sides b2 track, mumbai dweller keeps the focus primarily on the bottom end, specifically a strutting tribal-house funk groove thats dragged even deeper by a throbbing bass undertow, adding dark chords to it, giving this ep a darker feeling towards the end. to sum it all up: this is raw house music at its best!

both sides are ace! a side is a psychedelic afro track with a great bassline coming like straight from those early house tracks we all love so much. runner up is a love boat style disco track, in perfect balance, bringing you visions of half naked girls on the sandy beaches of portugal. tiago is dropping another couple of dancefloor bombs, thats for sure!

with smashing contributions by electro lord legowelt from dirty brown the hague and bleep addict garçon taupe from the bourgeois slums of amsterdam, narrominded presents the fourth installment in its renowned split lp series. both sides of this split lp comprise a whole ep in length, and the contributions have in common that they are both deeply rooted in electro music.
on garçon taupes wittenburg ep, eighties infected drum computer beats and heavy bass lines pave the way for some rather cheerful and unpretentious melodies. the five tracks were mixed to tape at rude 66s triple six lounge studio, and reveal influences from electronic pioneers like yellow magic orchestra and mantronix, to todays acid freaks like luke vibert and like a tim. the end result is a catchy mixture of electro and acid.
legowelt explores the darker corners of electronic music in four tracks leaning on eerie vocals and grungy electro beats. his land rovers in astrophysics ep takes us to mysterious environments. we are spacing out on the force of the stars, the universe, etc, and dancing to hypnotic drums on a mystical trip to pago pago west samoa. legowelt not only knows how to to satisfy a dance floor, but is also capable of deeply appealing to the listeners imagination.

surprise and super-limited new release from kieran hebden, following up the blink-and-you-will-miss-it collaboration with burial on another mysteriously undorned and brilliant 12 inch for his own text imprint. on >love cry< b/w >our bells<, he succinctly shows both sides of his oeuvre, the lush love of the dancefloor, and a chance to exercise his more esoteric inclinations. the live-sounding drums, gorgeously nuanced textures and blissful samples of >love cry< couldnt really come from anyone else, especially when enveloped well into the track and the vocal loops begin to peel off into a deep house-meets-krautrock coda executed with that signature sleight of hand. if you are only going to put out two 12 inches in a year, youd expect the attention to detail to be high, and here its absolutely exquisite. with >our bells< on the flip he crafts a sublime beatless, gamelan influenced piece, like the kosmiche resonance of the flip is allowed to seep through and glimmer all over the grooves, radiating incandescent ambient harmonics with a lustrous psychedelic blur. seriously righteous wares, for the lovers…(be quick!)

john tejada was marooned in los angeles in the summer of 82. a strange place to grow up coming from vienna austria. even stranger considering the lack of techno there in the 90s. in a land of glowsticks and desert parties, tejada stuck to his love and development of his own unique electronic sound. fast forward to 2007 when detroit area native josh humphrey was also marooned in los angeles. it didnt take long for the two to meet and connect the cables on their modulars into a system twice as big. the result is marooned, palettes newest collaboration between john tejada and josh humphrey. the trio of songs reveal three sides to the duos work. the title track, marooned, joins humphreys modular synth work with tejadas beats and soothing pads, the result being a slice of beat-driven melodic techno created in a city where such sounds are rarely heard. melodiac continues from there with a lighter mood, with humphreys modular melodies and tejadas signature stabs and rhythms. rounding out the three is concrete safari, which largely focuses on humphreys modular fm synth work that slowly evolves into a cluster of tribal sounds, modular birds and grainy goodness. humphreys knowledge of synths and programming is quite extensive. he currently works with la based big city music, a dealer of modular and boutique synthesizers. it is also a place tejada frequents to test most of his gear

the title of max coopers stochastisch serie ep, refers to his use of stochastic methods, also known as non-deterministic, or random methods of sound generation. stochastic elements referring here mainly to real sounds including vocal experiments and sampled sounds which create a complexity and richness which has been a trademark of many well known traum releases in the past. the london based artist max cooper sees his new 12 inch as a construction of different moods going beyond club music, as witnessed in the past through tracks such as i and end of reason. it is no surprise that dischordance is another one of these timeless pearls alongside these mentioned tracks that have created a fan base worldwide for him. the friction max generates is created by two sides colliding, the synthesised drums and melodies and the random experiments with voice. his dance floor rockers stochastisch serie and mnemonic work in a much more functional way but do include bits of this randomness and therefore are part of the superstructure stochastisch serie. the remix of uk producer leeks is very hip in style and sound and will please a lot of younger djs who love the cool swing and groovyness with music and will find the functionlism here going very strong.

home taping is killing music is a fresh new imprint that is all about a return to house music. producer of the moment the revenge (instruments of rapture/jisco music) kicks things off for the label in fine style with the stunning >forever in their debt<. a homage to the house producers that have influenced them and the artists whose samples have continued to drive house music forward expertly channeling the spirit of early chicago warehouse music, but with a modern production twist that truly captures that classic sound, but packs enough punch to wipe the floor with most of its peers. on the flip, maverick producer and dj red rack em (tirk/untracked/deep freeze) takes the track on a road trip to detroit, and produces a deep, moody and atmospheric version which brings to mind the work of pepe bradock and theo parrish. two sides, two flavours. both 100% house

there seems to be a bit a mystery around this record... and let some of this mystery remain. these two remixes of a fairly obscure song are pretty well known to the public, as for the last year or so they were regulars both in live sets of jacek sienkiewicz, and dj sets of ricardo villalobos. right now these two artists share credits to this obviously outstanding release. >pilgrim< is a vital, mesmerizing, uplifting piece of magic. one can assume, telling from the unusual, muezzin-like chanting, that it comes from some forgotten oriental library record... in fact, it was written in the seventies by a respected polish composer and extraordinary vocalist to the words of 19th century polish poet. now you can hear its modern, not to say futuristic, interpretation by two of the most forward-thinking electronic musicians from two different sides of the globe.
